- British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will warn on Tuesday that he is prepared to take unpopular decisions on government spending ahead of a vote over controversial plans to cut payments which help millions of elderly people pay their heating bills.

- The EU should fear for its self-preservation as it faces a "slow and agonising decline", according to a report by the former Italian prime minister Mario Draghi that calls for an 800 billion euro-a-year ($882.56 billion) spending boost to end years of stagnation.
