HAMBURG, Oct 18 (Reuters) -Taiwan's MFIG purchasing group bought about 65,000 metric tons of animal feed corn expected to be sourced from Brazil in an international tender on Friday, European traders said.

The yellow corn was purchased at an estimated premium of 198.60 U.S. cents a bushel cost and freight (c&f) included over the Chicago Board of Trade May 2025 corn contract CK25, they said.

It was believed to have been sold by trading house Columbia Grain International.

Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.

The tender had sought corn sourced from Argentina, Brazil or South Africa only, traders said. The United States was not listed as a requested origin.

Only Brazilian corn was offered in the tender, traders said.

Six other trading houses also each offered 65,000 tons from Brazil at premiums ranging from 203.30 to 217.58 U.S. cents a bushel c&f over the Chicago May corn contract.

Shipment was sought between Dec. 26, 2024, and Jan. 14, 2025, if the corn is sourced from Brazil or Argentina, traders said.

If sourced from South Africa, shipment was sought between Jan. 10 and Jan. 29, 2025.
