US Cash Grains-Corn basis bids steady to higher near harvest end
Nov 8 (Reuters) -Basis bids for corn were steady or moved up at grain handling facilities across the U.S. Midwest on Friday, with processors and ethanol plants looking to entice final sales from farmers as the harvest season comes to a close.
* Corn basis bids improved by 5 cents at processors in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Blair, Nebraska.
* At ethanol plants in Union City, Indiana and Council Bluffs, Iowa, the corn basis climbed by 3 cents.
* Soybean basis bids were steady to lower around the Midwest, losing 2 cents at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture's monthly supply and demand report estimated soybean output at 4.461 billion bushels, with an average yield of 51.7 bushels per acre, down from October estimates for a 4.582-billion-bushel crop with yields of 53.1 bushels per acre.
* The USDA reported the corn harvest was 15.143 billion bushels, with an average yield of 183.1 bushels per acre, compared to the agency's October estimates for production of 15.203 billion bushels and yields of 183.8 bushels per acre.
