US Cash Grains-Soybean bids down, corn mixed as harvest looms
CHICAGO, Sept 10 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for soybeans fell and corn bids were mixed on Tuesday, as buyers positioned ahead of Thursday's U.S. Department of Agriculture supply and demand report and the upcoming harvest, traders said.
* The soy basis decreased at an elevator and two processors in the U.S. Midwest.
* The corn basis decreased at two elevators, a river terminal and an ethanol plant. The basis increased at a processor and a river terminal.
* Buyers are hesitant to purchase old-crop corn and soy when huge quantities of the new crop are expected to hit the pipeline.
* Expectations of a bumper corn and soy crop have weighed heavily on prices despite previous concerns over damaging dry weather in the U.S. Midwest.
* CBOT December corn CZ24 was down 2 cents at $4.05-1/2 per bushel as of 1526 GMT and November soybeans SX24 were down 17-1/2 cents at $10.00-1/2 per bushel.
