SINGAPORE, Nov 6 (Reuters) -

  • Japanese rubber futures climbed for the second straight session on Wednesday to their highest in a week, buoyed by better economic data from top consumer China and a softer yen, while traders eyed the outcome of the U.S. presidential election.

  • The April Osaka Exchange (OSE) rubber contract JRUc6, 0#2JRU: was up 7.3 yen, or 2.07%, at 359.4 yen ($2.35) per kg as of 0200 GMT.

  • The contract earlier rose to as high as 362.2 yen, the strongest since Oct. 30.

  • The January rubber contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) SNRv1 rose 380 yuan, or 2.14%, to 18,125 yuan ($2,544.61) per metric ton.

  • Despite strong expectations of increased supply from overseas production areas, macro factors yesterday boosted rubber futures, increasing enthusiasm for trading in the market and providing some support for rubber prices, said Chinese financial site Hexun Futures.

  • A private-sector survey on Tuesday showed China's services activity expanded the fastest in three months in October, helped by early signs that Beijing's big stimulus push was helping improve business conditions.

  • As Americans voted in one of the tightest presidential elections in decades, China braced for an outcome that - regardless of who wins - would spell four more years of bitter superpower rivalry over trade, technology and security issues.

  • The U.S. dollar added 0.68% to 152.64 yen JPY=EBS, rallying broadly as early exit polls in the extremely close U.S. presidential election appeared to give an edge to Republican Donald Trump. USD/

  • A stronger currency makes yen-denominated assets less affordable to overseas buyers. FRX/

  • Japan's Nikkei .N225 rose 1.1%, tracking rallies on Wall Street overnight. .N

  • The front-month December rubber contract on Singapore Exchange's SICOM platform STFc1 last traded at 197.1 U.S. cents per kg, up 0.4%.
