SEOUL, Oct 4 (Reuters) -Round-up of South Korean financial markets:


** South Korean shares rose on Friday, with chipmaker SK Hynix shining among index heavyweights, but were still set for their first weekly loss in four.

** The benchmark KOSPI .KS11 rose 15.16 points, or 0.59%, to 2,576.85 by 0207 GMT.

** For the week, the KOSPI was down 2.6%. There were only three trading sessions this week due to holidays.

** SK Hynix 000660.KS, which supplies Nvidia NVDA.O with high-end chips, was up 3.49%, tracking the overnight advance in the U.S. chipmaker. It was the biggest gainer among major heavyweights. Rival Samsung Electronics 005930.KS rose 0.16%.

** Among other index heavyweights, automakers, e-commerce firms and biopharmaceutical manufacturers rose, but battery makers fell.

** Refiner S-Oil 010950.KS rose 3.48%, tracking crude prices.

** Korea Zinc 010130.KS, the world's biggest refined zinc producer, hit a record high on the last trading day before a deadline to accept or reject a $1.7 billion tender offer by private equity firm MBK Partners and Young Poong 000670.KS.

** Shipping firms HMM 011200.KS and Pan Ocean 028670.KS fell more than 4% after U.S. port workers and operators reached a deal to end a strike, dulling the prospect of higher freight charges.

** Of the total 935 traded issues, 530 shares advanced, while 320 declined.

** Foreigners were net buyers of shares worth 39.1 billion won ($29.33 million).

** The won was quoted at 1,333.6 per dollar on the onshore settlement platform KRW=KFTC, 0.79% lower than its previous close at 1,323.0.

** In money and debt markets, December futures on three-year treasury bonds KTBc1 fell 0.12 points to 106.30.

** The most liquid three-year Korean treasury bond yield KR3YT=RR rose by 4.5 basis points to 2.816%, while the benchmark 10-year yield KR10YT=RR rose by 5.0 basis points to 2.991%.
