ANKARA, Sept 20 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 34.11 against the U.S. dollar at 0431 GMT, compared with a close of 34.08 on Thursday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares extended their rally on Friday, bathing in the afterglow of an outsized interest rate cut in the United States, while the yen edged higher as the Bank of Japan held rates steady and stayed upbeat on the economy.
ERDOGAN PROGRAMME
President Tayyip Erdogan will attend a ceremony in Istanbul to mark the launch of more than 7,200 vehicles for the gendarme and police. (1100 GMT)
TRANSPORT MINISTER
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will participate in a summit in Istanbul on climate economies and sustainable transportation. (0700 GMT)
OPPOSITION
Ozgur Ozel, head of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), will visit the southwestern coastal province of Mugla. (1130 GMT)
CONSUMER CONFIDENCE DATA TRCONC=ECI
The Turkish Statistics Institute will announce consumer confidence data for September. (0700 GMT)
BLASTS IN LEBANON
Turkey is reviewing its measures to secure the communication devices used by its armed forces after the deadly blasts in Lebanon, a Turkish defence ministry official said on Thursday.
CENTRAL BANK RATE DECISION
Turkey's central bank held its main interest rate steady at 50% for a sixth straight month on Thursday as expected, saying it remained highly attentive to inflation risks but removing a reference to potential tightening.
SOMALIA-ETHIOPIA TALKS
Turkey aims to meet separately with Somalia and Ethiopia as part of its efforts to resolve a dispute between the sides over a deal that Ethiopia agreed to lease a stretch of coastline from Somaliland, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Thursday.
