U.S. STOCKS CLOSE OUT WEEK ON HIGH NOTE FROM PAYROLLS

U.S. stocks closed out Friday's session with solid gains, as a strong payrolls report silenced whispers about the possibility of a rapidly cooling labor market and cemented expectations the Federal Reserve will cut rates by 25 basis points in November.

Adding to the tailwinds for stocks was an end to the port strike along U.S. coasts.

Sector gains were led by financials .SPSY, and more specifically, banks .SPXBK, while real estate .SPLRCR and utilities .SPLRCU were the sole decliners among the 11 major S&P sectors as bond yields shot higher as markets priced in a slower path of Fed rate cuts.

Small caps outperformed their large cap brethren, with the S&P 600 .SPCY and Russell 2000 .RUT both up around 1.5% on hopes the economy is in line for a soft landing.

For the week, the S&P 500 .SPX gained 0.22%, the Nasdaq .IXIC rose 0.1%, and the Dow .DJI climbed 0.09%. The Russell 2000 small cap index fell 0.69%.
